The Office of Ignatian Spirituality (OIS) strives to bring the Spiritual Exercises to people in new and exciting ways. These programs, made possible through the support of volunteers, staff, benefactors, and participants, are what make OIS unique. Below is a sampling of the ways in which we extend the experience of Ignatian Spirituality to our community.
Engages boards of directors, parish councils and other groups to integrate Ignatian discernment into their ordinary way of proceeding.
CONTEMPLATIVE LEADERS IN ACTION (CLA)
An innovative, two-year spiritual formation and leadership development program for young professionals, rooted in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. CLA takes place in Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Atlanta. In addition, we support affiliate programs in Detroit, at Seattle University, St. Louis University, and the Loyola Institute for Spirituality in Orange, CA. Read more about CLA.
HISPANIC IGNATIAN MINISTRY
Offers Spanish-speaking men and women opportunities to experience Ignatian Spirituality through Days of Reflection and Ignatian Prayer in silence and to become Prayer Companions through the new Escuela de Espiritualidad Ignaciana. Check back for our new Hispanic Ministry website.
IGNATIAN LEADERSHIP MISSION RETREATS (ILM)
3-5 day retreats contemplating “Where is God calling us as companions on mission” rooted in the graces of gratitude, healing, call, and co-laboring. TJC offers two to three ILM retreats along the East Coast. Learn more and register for an upcoming retreat on our ILM Page.
IGNATIAN ADVENT AND LENTEN MEDITATIONS
Gathers friends and colleagues for prayer and conversation in preparation for Christmas and Easter. Visit our event calendar for upcoming programs in your area. If you are interested in helping out, contact us here.
IGNATIAN CONVERSATIONS FOR WOMEN (ICW)
A multi-session initiative for women including input, reflection, and faith-sharing centered on a yearly theme. Themes include "Women for Others" and more. Interested in joining? Contact Clare Walsh, MHSH for more details.
Offers Jesuits from East Coast provinces both preached and individually directed retreats. Retreats are offered each summer through retreat houses on the East Coast. Check our events calendar for more information.
An 18-month program that helps lay companions understand and live Ignatian spirituality and the Jesuit way of proceeding through seminars, retreats, readings, personal prayer and reflection. Cohorts meet regionally and comprise members from various fields and backgrounds. Applications are required, learn more and apply.
Retreats and workshops, centered on the Exercises, are offered in a wide variety of formats, e.g., 8-week 4-week, weekend, and days and evenings of prayer.
PRINCIPLE CENTERED LEADERSHIP (PCL)
Engages business leaders with brief presentations and discussions in a prayerful manner on issues relevant to the current business environment and provides spiritual support to those who carry great responsibility.
